The Kalamazoo Wings Booster Club was founded in 1975 to support the Kalamazoo
Wings Hockey Club and to promote hockey in the Kalamazoo and surrounding
communities.
The Kalamazoo Wings Booster Club is a non profit organization and has donated
funds to many different area charities during the past 30 years. Some of the charities
include Warm Kids, Michigan Blind Athletics, Cheff Center a riding facility for
physically and mentally handicapped individuals, the Joseph F. Cekola Foundation,
Karios Dwelling and the Carrie M. Doherty Memorial Fund.
We also support youth hockey in the Kalamazoo Area with donations to KOHA and
the SWMHSHL (Southwest Michigan High School Hockey League)
The Booster Club helps the team with anything that is needed. In the past we have
donated pieces of exercise equipment for the weight room, a television and a VCR for
the locker room, a boom box for the team to take on the bus, as well as locker room
supplies such as shampoo, soap, and other incendiaries. We provide fruit and other
healthy snacks for the team on the overnight road trips
We help furnish the players apartments with small appliances, dishes, pots and pans,
silverware and other household goods. Each year every player receives a welcome
basket from the club.
We sell item at home games such player photo buttons, goal lights, key chains and
other hockey trinkets.
Our main fund raiser is our Annual Charity Spaghetti Dinner, held in the Spring. The
players are the waiters, and bus boys at the event.
Being a member of the Club has a couple of perks. We have two to three members
only outing with the players. We start the season off with a Welcome party for the
players, enjoy an Holiday dinner with them and sometimes even have a spring
gathering.
We are very proud to be associated with the Kalamazoo Wings Hockey Club and are
looking forward to the Future in the ECHL.
